5 Bucks a Day

… an Internet Marketing strategy that works!

Internet Marketing ideas: Focus and you won’t fail

September 9th, 2007 · No Comments

I can never say it enough, I wrote about it in 5 Bucks a Day saying it was a key part of the strategy.  It took me from quiet desperation to success virtually overnight.

Focus.

The more I’ve incorporated it into my daily routine, the more I seem to see others talking about the advantage of focus.  Did I just not notice before, or did my book have some effect?  Doesn’t matter.

Again, I’m going to print a quote from an interview with JD Swanson that I mentioned a couple days ago.  JD’s been incredibly successful at a young age, and granted an exclusive interview by email to one of our forum moderators.  Here’s a question and answer I picked up on in rereading the interview just now:

3. Was there a point where you just weren’t “getting it” regarding marketing? If so – what was the major concept /idea /experience that really put your internet marketing on the path to sucess, your turning point so to speak?

Hell yes! I couldn’t understand why I could spend 14 days living in woodlands and snow with little food and sleep and get what I needed to get done yet still not make a $1 online in a comfy office. I felt stupid. I really did. I couldn’t understand how a fully grown man with some intellect cannot for the life of him make even 1 red cent online.

I was almost tempted to go out in the woods and try and make money. I thought the comfort thing was the problem. The problem was I didn’t focus on one thing and get it done. I had no plan.

There we go again:  “The problem was I didn’t focus on one thing and get it done.”

The most successful people in any field, and JD is a huge success in his, are insanely focused on one thing at a time.

Thomas Edison focused on his belief that he could invent an incandescent light bulb, you all know that story.

If you want to succeed, you have to have a specific goal (not just a dream or a wish).  You have to have confidence that you can succeed in attaining that goal. You have to list the steps it will take to achieve that goal.  And then you have to focus on taking one step at a time.

If you do that, you’ll achieve your goal.

Now let’s be serious here.  If your goal is to make a trillion dollars this year, that’s probably not achievable.  If your goal is to beat Tiger Woods in golf and you’re currently an out of shape duffer, that’s probably not achievable.

But if your goal is reasonable and attainable and you can muster the confidence that you can achieve it, you’re half way there.  Focus will get you the rest of the way there.

Don’t believe me?  Try it.  Then get back to me.

By the way, if you enjoyed that little snippet from the interview with JD, you can read the entire interview by joining either Earn1KaDay.com (my site) or SellYourWritingOnline.com (JD’s site).  You won’t regret it.  The links are on the sidebar to the right.
