Internet Marketing ideas: Would you like me to teach you how to fish, or …?

I read this blog post today:

It got me to thinking a lot about myself.  His comments (you really need to read the whole (long!) post) really hit home.

I’ve been caught in the trap where I’ll buy a course based on what the sales page promises me.  And then after I pay my money, download it, print it out, and put it on top of my desk, all too often something else gets put on top of it, and before long I have a pile of reading to do.

I’ve even caught myself purchasing the same thing more than once, for goodness sakes!

Mike drives home the point that in today’s impulsive want it now society, people don’t necessarily want to learn how to fish.  Well, actually they do want to learn how, but they don’t want to do it.  They want you to explain it to them while you do it for them.

As Internet marketers, we have opportunities to earn more income by taking advantage of all the different market segments.  And different groups within each segment.

For example, of you’re teaching someone how to fish (or build a web site), some will prefer to read about it, and some will respond better to video.  So you can sell the video for more.

Some will want you to give them a “build site quick” solution, they want to build it themselves, but without working too hard or too long.

Others want you to do the first one for them, and then they’ll have a blueprint to follow.

And others want to be able to have you do the job time after time after time, at whatever price you want to charge.

You really should be in a position to service all the different market segments.  If not, you’re leaving a log of money on the table.
